What a fabulous night of celebration, fun and networking at the 7th annual Greater West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce awards dinner.

Roop Raj, FOX 2 morning anchor and news reporter rocked Shenandoah as the master of ceremonies. Mark Tapper, Ryan LaFontaine, Rami Ubaydi, Ken McClure and Andrew Jacob were honored for their contributions to the community. Over 100 dignitaries Chamber members, family, friends and community attended to celebrate the achievements of these great honorees.

Chamber President, Kelly Taylor, welcomed the crowd with a rousing speech about supporting our community. Karen Fischer (C & G News) and Teri Weingarden (WB treasurer) were a tremendous help at the registration desk. Spotted having a great time were Carla Schwartz (Beaumont Health System), Shane Pliska (Planterra) and friends checking out what Shane won and new Chamber member and business owner Ash Naik of Leaf & Berry having the best time at the Orchard Mall table. Pam Dover (Comcast), Steve Tapper (Tapper’s) and Cecilia Fydorski (Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital) trying to select best mystery bags. Tracy Rojas (Heartland ) barely had time to sit with her co-workers as she was very busy selling mystery bags. Joel Jacob ( The Bottle Crew) positively beaming as his son Andrew received the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. Tim Farris and Rick Anthony, awards dinner committee members, helped the valet put gift packages from Savorfull and LaFontaine in every car.

Also present to congratulate the winners were Representatives Klint Kesto and Mike McCready, West Bloomfield Township Supervisor Michelle Economu Ureste, as well as, township representatives Cathy Shaughnessy, Teri Weingarden, Board of Education President Randi Sakwa and West Bloomfield Schools Superintendent Dr. Gerald Hill.

There isn’t enough space to write about all the other wonderful people that helped make the evening a huge success…but there is always next time…

In usual Costco fashion, the breakfast portions were enormous …only rivaled by the connections made by those in attendance. Seen networking in the crowd were Lee Jaffke, Paula Phaneuf (who won a prize again this time generously donated by Costco), Carla Schwartz, Romy Shubitowski, Karen Fischer, Eric Glick, Alyssa Cohen, Linda Baker, Mervat Gallozi, Don Ccohen, Matt Romkey, Pam Zajac , Lauren Bloom, and  Herb and Joan Conroy.

Special thanks to Robin, Matt, Rick and Risa – the very gracious  Costco hosts of the event.

In addition to the mingling we had an opportunity to learn more about the Children’s Miracle Network and how just buying one balloon can help support this very worthy cause.  Donations will be accepted at Costco for the entire month of May and all proceeds stay local.

The Little Gym at 4301 Orchard Lake is a fabulous place for toddlers to exercise and “network” with other toddlers. You’re never too young to start to expand your circle of acquaintances. Some of the members who took advantage of the opportunity to have fun while networking included Milton Duerod, Hunt Gersin, Karen Fisher, Andi Sklar, Carla Schwartz , Risa Pinkston, Mervat Najjar,  Doug Ruby, Kelly Taylor and Farrokh Nassirpour.

Special thanks to WB Township Supervisor Michelle Economu Ureste who presented The Little Gym with a Monopoly Board with their location prominently displayed.

Hermelin ORT Resource Center (A Division of JVS)

Attendees viewed the capabilities of the facility, which offers a wide range of computer training and technology support services.  They also learned of the role the Center plays to help both the unemployed and underemployed develop the enhanced skills that they need to find employment or to further their careers.
